Fire & the Community
The Hollister Fire Department is committed to the education
of the community and hosts fire service courses through the
South Bay Regional Public Safety Consortium. Courses included
are:
- Firefighter I Academy twice a year
- Fire Officer Level-I
- E.M.T. Basic
Department education includes:
- Station tours
- Safe kids campaign
- Fire prevention week
- Safe house
- Assisting the San Benito Fire Safe Council (www.sbfsc.org)
The Department receives assignments from time to time that
include;
- Color guards
- Parade processions
- Career day
Hollister Fire
participates in the Firefighter Toy Drive program every Christmas.
Hollister Fire is the 1st place recipient of San Jose’s
Chili cook-off 2000.“Congrats guys”!
A firefighters
ball is conducted annually through IAFF Union local 3395.
The proceeds from the ball go to a scholarship fund. The recipient
must express a desire in the fire service. (www.hfdlocal3395.org)
A city park was
dedicated to former Fire Chief - the late Antonio “Tony”
Aguirre. (Dedicated August 7, 2000). Located on the corner
of Bridgeville and West Graff.
