The City Attorney’s office consists of one in-house City Attorney and one full time support staff. The City Attorney is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the City Council. The City Attorney engages in a full range of municipal law practice, which includes the preparation of ordinances, contracts, leases, Code updates and other legal documents.

The Office represents the City in litigation, with the exception of tort litigation and worker’s compensation and is responsible for prosecuting violations of the Municipal Code. The City Attorney provides legal services to all city departments, and serves as general legal counsel to the Redevelopment Agency, Planning Commission, and other boards and commissions of the City.
