COMPANION
ANIMAL RETRIEVAL SYSTEM
IT TAKES ONLY A MOMENT...
A door left ajar, an unlatched gate. You look
away for just a second or two, and your precious
pet is gone. And then comes the sorrow, the worry,
guilt, the expense of a search. You love your
pet as a member of the family, and you can't help
but miss the special joy he or she brings into
your life every day.
Sadly, this painful drama is played out in millions
of households every year, and too many of those
lost pets never make it back home.
But things are changing now. Finally, there is
a pet-retrieval system that can greatly increase
the chances of you and your beloved pet being
reunited, thanks to the Home Again Companion Animal
Retrieval System.
WHAT IS HomeAgain?
HomeAgain is the most complete
pet-retrieval system available - providing safe,
lifelong identification and enhancing the chances
of retrieving a lost pet. This system is available
through veterinarians.
HomeAgain is brought to you by
Schering-Plough Animal Health, a company with
more than 40 years of experience in animal health.
HOW
WILL HomeAgain PROTECT MY PET?
Permanent identification is provided by a tiny
microchip that can be implanted quickly and safely
in your dog or cat. The microchip, approximately
the size of a grain of rice (2 x 11 mm), is programmed
with a unique, unalterable code that can be identified
with a hand-held scanner (similar to the hand-held
scanners used in grocery stores). These scanners
are in use at thousands of veterinarians' offices,
animal shelters, and animal-control agencies around
the country.
When your lost pet is brought to one of these
locations, the HomeAgain identification
code is retrieved and called in to the AKC Companion
Animal Recovery Data Base. This data base is accessible
24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through a central
800 number. You are contacted immediately, and
every possible step will be taken to reunite you
and your pet.
WILL I BE ENTERED
INTO THE NETWORK AUTOMATICALLY?
Once your pet gets the HomeAgain microchip, all
you have to do is pay a low, one-time registration
fee of $28.00 to ensure lifetime registration
for your pet. You also will be given a HomeAgain
collar tag with the data-base 800 number and a
unique, individualized identification code. There
is a nominal charge if you need to change the
information on your pet (eg, address, phone number,
etc.).
The data-base network is expertly managed by the
American Kennel Club, Inc. (AKC), an organization
with more than 100 years of experience in maintaining
animal registries. The AKC maintains the nation's
largest high-tech data base of purebred dogs.
Registration in the AKC Companion Animal Recovery
Data Base is available to all dogs and cats, regardless
of breed. |
