A professional or business activity that is permitted in a residential dwelling unit that meets certain criteria and conditions, which allows for the orderly, safe and nuisance-free occupation within the dwelling.  Generally, applicants for a home occupation must demonstrate the business activity will be conducted exclusively within the main residential dwelling; that there will be no visible evidence of the conduct of the home occupation; that no materials will be stored or transported to or from the residence and that no products will be sold on the premises.  In addition, the display of advertising materials or signage to attract the general public is prohibited and applicants are not allowed to generate pedestrian or vehicle traffic beyond what normally exists.  These and other conditions have been established to ensure that the home occupation does not disrupt the neighborhood and surrounding area.
